President Barzani meets commander of US Central Command General Austin

Salahaddin, Kurdistan, Iraq (KRP.org) – Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani yesterday met with the commander of the United States Central Command, General Lloyd Austin, in Salahaddin.

The President and the US General discussed the military campaign currently underway against the ISIS terrorists, as well as the United States’ military support for the Peshmerga forces. President Barzani thanked the United States and other countries for their military and humanitarian assistance to the KRG. He added that thanks to this support, the Peshmerga forces have now taken the offensive against the terrorists.

General Austin recognized the role of the Peshmerga forces in the fight against the ISIS terrorists and reaffirmed continued American support for the Peshmerga.

The two agreed that ISIS is a threat to the whole region and the entire world, and that confronting the terrorists requires international effort and cooperation.
