General Power of Attorney: 

is a legal document whereby a person gives another person the power to take decisions with regards to their affairs in the Kurdistan Region.

To produce a General Power of Attorney, you have to provide the following with your application:

  • 1 recent passport size photograph
  • Identification: Iraqi passport, Iraqi Citizenship or Iraqi ID card
  • Full name of the agent/lawyer/relative you are giving the power to act on your behalf

If your name is different in Spain from your documents in Kurdistan, you must show your Iraqi ID. All documents for Kurdistan are valid with your name as it appears on your Iraqi identification (the name you are registered under in Kurdistan).

Specific power of Attorney:

is a legal document whereby a person gives another person the power to take decisions with regards to one specific affair.

Special power of attorney can be used for:

  • Receiving/applying for a pension
  • Divorce
  • Producing Marriage Certificate
  • Buying or selling a vehicle
  • Buying or selling property (land/house/business)

To produce a Specific Power of Attorney you must submit the following with your application:

  • 1 recent passport size photograph
  • Identification: Iraqi passport, Iraqi Citizenship or Iraqi ID card (taskara)
  • Full name of the agent/lawyer/relative you are giving power to

Cancellation of Power of Attorney

  • You must show at least one form of identification (Iraqi passport, Iraqi Citizenship (shahaday jinsya) or Iraqi ID card (taskara)
  • And a copy of the original power of attorney document that you wish to cancel.
  • Please note: we can only cancel a power of attorney document if it was issued by the KRG Spain Representation. In cases where the power of attorney document was issued in Kurdistan, we recommend you give a ‘Specific power of Attorney’ to someone other than your original agent to cancel it for you in Kurdistan.
