The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decreed in February 2010 that a new representation office be established in Madrid, Spain, in order to establish strong cultural, economic and educational and scientific relations between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Spain.
Internationally Spain is a strategically important country and by establishing a representative office in Madrid the KRG is taking an important step in further raising the profile of the Kurdistan Region.
