The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decreed in February 2010 that a new representation office be established in Madrid, Spain, in order to establish strong cultural, economic and educational and scientific relations between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Spain.
Internationally Spain is a strategically important country and by establishing a representative office in Madrid the KRG is taking an important step in further raising the profile of the Kurdistan Region.
The KRG representation office in Spain is based on Calle Serrano in the heart of Madrid. Through this office the KRG will introduce to Spain the culture, history, society, economy and political developments of the Kurdistan Region. KRG in Spain aims to foster strong relations with private, public, non-governmental and educational institutions, as well as be a source of information on the Kurdistan Region to the media and press.
Finally, KRG in Spain aims to further internationalize Kurdish society by opening the door to the Spanish speaking world.
