President of the Kurdistan Region tasks Masrour Barzani to form the new KRG cabinet

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani has tasked Masrour Barzani, as Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, to form the ninth ministerial cabinet, in the presence of the Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Ms. Vala Farid and the Head of the Judicial Council of the Kurdistan Region Judge Bangin Qasim.

It was proceeded by regional executive decree no. 1 (2019) and under the provisions of paragraph 12 of article 10 of the amended Law of Presidency of Kurdistan Region no.1 (2005), supported by parliamentary decision no. 7 of 2019.

According to the regional decree, the process of the formation of the ministerial cabinet must not exceed 30 days from the date of this decree, signed on Wednesday, 12 June 2019.

The ceremony for swearing-in of Nechirvan Barzani as the new President of the Kurdistan Region

The Kurdistan Parliament today conducted a special ceremony for the swearing-in of Nechirvan Barzani as the new President of the Kurdistan Region.

Nechirvan Barzani delivered a first speech to all the participants, from Iraq and abroad, as president of Kurdistan Region of Irak.

During his speech, he thanked Masoud Barzani for his leadership of the Kurdish nation for many years.

He urged the political parties to be more unified despite all the differences in views, for the sake of the region.

Therefore, he promised that a new roadmap for the Kurdistan Region in working with the Iraqi federal government will be created soon. The new program will better protect the rights of the people of the country in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.

Deloitte report on Oil and Gas review in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region – Q4 of 2018

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Today, Regional Council for Oil and Gas Affairs has published new verified data on the Kurdistan Region’s oil exports, consumption and revenues, covering the period from 1 October 2018 to 31 December 2018, after a review of the sector by the international “Big 4” audit and consulting firm, Deloitte.

The Regional Council for Oil and Gas Affairs acknowledges the positive feedback received from stakeholders, including the international community, and reiterates its commitment to the people of Kurdistan that the two international audit firms, Deloitte and Ernst & Young, will continue to independently review the oil and gas sector, inclusive of all the streams.

Nechirvan Barzani was elected President of Kurdistan Region

Nechirvan Barzani was elected President of the Kurdistan Region by Kurdistan’s Parliament on May 28. He will step down from his current position as Prime Minister after taking his oath of office on June 10 in a special ceremony. The President, after his June 10 swearing in, will designate and task a Prime Minister with forming a new cabinet in 30 days
